"I’d had problems with my gums for years, as far back as my 30s and 40s but in those days the focus was on looking after your teeth rather than your gums so they just got worse.
I became very conscious of what I ate like steak and chips which would irritate my gums. It put me off going out as all my friends would choose lovely things on the menu and I would have to order pasta which was soft and didn’t cause me problems.
Over the past ten years my gums got worse which impacted on my teeth and made me very depressed. I dreaded going out for a meal, I would talk with my hand over my mouth because I would feel so self-conscious and rarely smiled.
I just saw my future as having to wear dentures and taking my teeth out every night and putting them back in in the morning. I didn’t want that. I didn’t want my granddaughter seeing me without my teeth if she came into my bedroom early in the morning.
Looking back I realised that I felt very self-conscious addressing colleagues at work and when I had to speak at meetings. I had no self confidence. Now you can’t shut me up!
It was amazing, they took all my teeth out and gave me replacement new ones the same day – I never needed painkillers and after a couple of months I had got used to my new teeth and fallen in love with them.
My new teeth have given me a new lease of life. I laugh with confidence now, I can eat anything and I don’t put my hand over my mouth when I talk. I feel a new woman. What price a new life? Fortunately I was able to use my redundancy money to pay for them. The best present my old company could have given me."

"I had my teeth knocked out while I was trying to break up a fight between two chaps four years ago. I didn’t lose the teeth completely but they were badly bashed and loosened. I put up with them for a while and eventually went to the dentist and he said I would have to wear dentures. I was devastated. So I contacted United Smile Centres a year ago and they immediately found me a permanent solution which did not involve dentures.
I am so pleased with the end result. My new teeth have taken some getting used to but I would never go back. I can bite into an apple now which I could never do with my dodgy front teeth. All the staff are lovely too. They are a brilliant company. Nothing is too much trouble no matter how petty you might think your concern is. They will answer calls on bank holidays and weekends and are always patient and friendly."

"I was not very good at looking after my teeth. I used to be a heavy smoker – 30-40 a day for 30 years. I gave up five years ago but then had a lot of problems with receding gums. I felt very self-conscious and didn’t open my mouth or smile very much, especially in photographs.
I originally came from the world of fashion where I worked for 30 years. I managed to disguise my teeth well but when I gave up smoking in 2009 I decided to do something about my teeth, so had an arch implant in 2011. They were my present to myself for giving up smoking.
I love my new teeth and do look after them now. I smile more and I’m less self-conscious. It’s also wonderful to be able to bite into a baguette and an apple without worrying about cracking a tooth.
I am enjoying the freedom of eating what I like, and laughing heartily with my friends.
I also think my teeth have enhanced my credibility with clients; people in my world expect you to look great from top to toe. So life is good.
United Smile Centres provides an amazing service where they will remove all your teeth and provide you with new ones in the same day. It’s remarkable. It takes a while to get used to them but the fact that you don’t have to wear dentures for four months before getting your new teeth is a real blessing.
It is not cheap but it is worth every penny to get a new life."

“I always felt self-conscious about my teeth. I didn’t like to open my mouth and talk to people or join in conversations. It is fantastic now. I am very pleased. Best of all is that I can eat anything. Before I couldn’t eat certain foods because I was worried I might chip a tooth. I hated false teeth.
Life is much easier now, I feel more sociable. I go out more often and join in conversations more easily and am happy to take part in discussions. My teeth really have transformed my life. I have no regrets and just wish I had done it sooner.”

"I bought my children up on my own as a single mum and when they finished school I met someone, remarried and ploughed all my money into his business. When I learned he had betrayed me I felt devastated. That was four years ago.
Everything I had went into his business, and when I realised that I wouldn’t have the future I expected I decided to spend some money on myself. I had my eyes done (cataract operations) and my teeth.
I love my new teeth because they are permanent and will make me feel better about myself for ever. I’ve always had a problem with my teeth. At one point I was spending £1,000 a week on visits to my dentist. I felt I had to find another solution and the staff at United Smile Centres found one for me.
I used to wake up every morning and my first thought would be my teeth. Do they hurt? Which one twinges? Do I have to be careful today? I didn’t realise how much time I was wasting worrying about my teeth. I used to clean them properly and went to the dentist regularly but I just had weak teeth.
Now I wake up and think about how I’m going to spend my day. I do think I look younger too; your teeth do give your age away I think; I can talk to people and smile without worrying about judgements people might make about me.
I love my teeth because they look like my own. No one has asked if I have had my teeth done. They look so natural. If your teeth look like your own, you will have a younger smile.
I do feel happier and more confident."

"Someone suggested to me that having my teeth done would renew my confidence and I have to say it has enhanced my professional life. As an actor how you look is important and how your teeth look is important too. I have to say having my arch implant was four of the most pleasant hours I have spent unconscious.
I just had my bottom teeth done as they had worn down and weren’t even visible. I had got to the point where I was reluctant to do auditions where I had to project my voice as it meant I had to open my mouth and show my teeth. I’m not sure how much this hindered my career, but I am certainly better equipped and more confident now to tackle more varied and larger roles."

“I hated wearing dentures, I didn’t want to smile and always felt so self-conscious. I like to wear nice clothes and keep fit (I do 250 pulls on the rowing machine even now and was a keen runner in my youth; I used to do five mile runs at school and was always the first back to use the shower). The only thing letting me down was my teeth.
I also do a lot of charity work, always have done, I love meeting people and going to parties but I always felt self-conscious about my teeth.
Now since my upper and lower implants I have felt a new woman. It’s like magic. Even though it was three years ago when I was 91 I still can’t believe it. I am living proof that you are never too old to invest in your smile; and smile I do every day.
I look at my teeth in the same way as someone who might look at a new extension to their home. It has changed my life, made me so happy and rid me of all my worries."
Eunice, originally from Cheshire now lives in Suffolk with her daughter.
“I’ve always had a morbid fear of hospitals and dentists and the United Smile Centre was my last lifeline. I hated my teeth. They were terrible. I always thought that if you had nice teeth it makes you a better person because you feel more confident. I felt insecure and very unconfident before having my new teeth fitted 18 months ago.
They took away my fear at the United Smile Centre. I was so nervous I took a friend with me to the first consultation. I was sweating. But they calmed me down and made me feel comfortable. It is so important to feel comfortable. I did not feel nervous and felt I was in good hands. They got rid of my fear.
Afterwards I got lots of compliments about my new teeth and my confidence returned. Best of all there was no pain. I am so pleased also because they were a 50th birthday present from my mum who passed away last year. She was so happy for me and so they will always remind me of her."
